Southend hospital, UK
The Fetal Medicine Foundation has made a major donation for the development and equipment of a specialist fetal medicine centre at Southend University Hospital.
The new centre, which opened in 2015, aims to provide a high level of care for pregnant women and their unborn babies. The new centre will be actively involved in research into pregnancy complications and in the training of doctors in fetal medicine.
The director of the unit, Dr Mandeep Singh, is a specialist in fetal medicine and he also works as a consultant in the Harris Birthright research centre for fetal medicine at King's College Hospital (KCH). Similarly, the other doctors working in the unit are also rotating into the fetal medicine unit at KCH.
